Mac Studio Fix Fluid Coverage
  1. MAC NC12 it is a shade in the Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 range, is a permanent liquid foundation with a matte finish and medium-full coverage that retails for $30.00 and contains 1 oz. Jump to a particular section if you know what information you're looking for!
  2. Claims for MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation ( as per their website) A modern foundation that combines a natural matte finish and medium to full buildable coverage with SPF 15 protection. Applies, builds and blends easily and evenly. Comfortable and long-wearing: lasts for up to eight hours. Applies smoothly, builds coverage quickly and easily.

Is it worthy of it's reputation??? Let me quickly tell you the truth…..

Packaging: mehhhh, I'm not impressed. The top is a soft velvety rubber, the container is a sturdy glass,
but there is NO pump included. MAC would have you buy a pump from them for $10….on top of the $29.00 you
just spent for the foundation.

(I'm ALL FOR spending money on quality products, but it just ANNOYS me that the price of the pump went from $6
(I believe) to $10 over time. MAC if you refuse to include a pump, despite the countless complaints, then at least don't
continue to jack up the price of your optional pump.)

Texture/Consistancy: This foundation is very thick & creamy, right out of the bottle. I love this about it!!
It doesn't really run or drip off your palette or hand like other liquid foundations tend to do.
I applied this foundation with a damp stippling brush. You will need to work it in fast as it sets fairly quickly.
It has a slightly sticky/tacky feeling which only lasts a few minutes, until the foundation sets. After it sets
the finish feels soft and velvety, no stickiness.

Smell: The smell reminded me of actual house paint… It smells very similar to interior paint, but not so
strong, not necessarily unpleasant either. I have only been able to smell it on my face, a few times, once applied.

Coverage: Studio Fix Fluid Foundation starts off with a medium coverage which I easily built up into a full coverage. I have alot
of rosiness in my skin, which it did cover but I felt I had to use quite a bit of product to get it to full coverage.

I would have liked it to be full coverage with less product.
*I did apply MACS Prep & Prime before the foundation…. BUT nonetheless I am still experiencing the 'pore problem'. Visable pores
is my main issue I want a foundation to correct!!! This foundation started off concealing pores pretty well, but around the six hour mark,
I noticed my pores were not concealed at all. Also the foundation had settled into the creases around nose. I'm not happy with this!

How Matte & how long?? Studio Fix has a 'soft matte' finish to it. A tiny bit of luminosity remains on the skin, but it's still quite matte.
I would say it's a fairly natural looking matte. Despite any trends, I am now really favoring matte over dewey. I did the dewy thing for
so long, I'm just personally over it. I like how matte tends to to be more flattering on imperfections such as pores.
Also, I find the warmer & more
humid the climate the more dewwy & oily my skin will be, so matte balances out what a hot, wet climate will do to my face.
It has been an AWESOME unseasonably cool day here, so I couldn't test the foundation in a tropical-like climate yet. But it has remained matte
for 9 hours now.

Conclusion: I give MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation 3.9 out of 5 stars. Overall it is a very good full coverage matte foundation. The lack of
diminishing pores, and it's slight creasing around nose & mouth can be a real problem especially in harsh flourescent lighting. It's lasting power
is excellent though!!!

Hello beauties check-out my MAC Studio Fix Fluid vs Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup Review!

After using Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup in Ecru for the past six months, I have recently strayed and I'm now using MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC15. Both popular ‘heavy duty' foundations, I wanted to compare my experiences with both.

Mac Studio Fix Fluid Pump

What I Say:

The first thing to note is that these two foundations are at different price points. Double Wearretails at $68 AUD for 30 ml, while Studio Fix Fluid retails at $48 AUD for 30 ml. This factor certainly influenced my decision to try Studio Fix Fluid to see if it might be a less expensive alternative to my beloved Double Wear. One thing to note is that MAC does charge an extra $8 AUD for a pump for the foundation, which you can obviously re-use on future bottles.

Both foundations are packaged in glass bottles with a wide mouth and screw-top lid (before you buy a pump from MAC). As you can see in the product pictures, Double Wear comes in a square, thick frosted glass bottle which is quite sturdy (I've dropped it a couple of times without any problems), while Studio Fix Fluid comes in a cylindrical, more delicate glass bottle (which is apparently prone to breakage, although fingers crossed I haven't dropped it yet to find out).

You'll notice in this foundation swatch that Studio Fix Fluid seems to be a better colour match for me. That is definitely true, but the difference between the colours isn't as dramatic as it appears in the photo. However, I would say that Studio Fix Fluid in NC15 is the best colour match I've been able to find for my skin tone. If I were to use Double Wear again, I would probably try Bone, their lightest warm colour. Both brands have a reasonably wide colour selection for people with lighter skin tones.

Max Studio Fix Fluid

Both brands claim their foundations have medium to full coverage. I would argue that Double Wear is a full-coverage foundation, while Studio Fix Fluid is a medium coverage foundation. I can easily achieve that flawless, ‘blank canvas' look with Double Wear, while this wouldn't be possible with Studio Fix Fluid without layering it on and looking cakey. On application, both foundations have a matte finish, although Studio FixFluid probably looks more satiny and natural than Double Wear.

I always applied Double Wear with a damp cosmetic sponge, as I found this produced a more even finish than using a brush. However, I have learned to apply Studio Fix Fluid with a foundation brush, as a cosmetic sponge seems to ‘suck up' all the foundation, with very little going onto my face. Both foundations effectively cover my minor acne and any other blemishes.

Where the paths of these foundations diverge is how they wear over time. Double Wear just plain lasts longer on my skin, no matter what happens. I honestly think that Double Wear could survive a nuclear holocaust. For an oily-skinned girl like me, this is a gift from the heavens above. In comparison, maintaining a medium coverage with Studio Fix Fluid would require a couple of touch-ups during the day. I also sometimes notice that Studio Fix Fluid will transfer a little onto my phone if I take a call. However, I tend to feel that Double Wear‘s amazing longevity does come at a price. Over the longer term, Double Wear tends to make my skin a little flaky and dull. In comparison, Studio Fix Fluid‘s ingredients seem to nourish my skin and help keep it moisturised.

Mac Studio Fix Fluid Nw25

There is a place for both Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup and MAC Studio Fix Fluid in my life, heart, and makeup cabinet. At the moment, I wear Studio Fix Fluid to work during the day, while I reserve Double Wear for special occasions, nights out, and days where I just want to hide behind a flawless finish.
